It has now been seven weeks since his surgery and Eddie is doing great. He just had tubesput in his ears a few days ago to keep fluid from building up. With his new lip, he is learning
to drink with a straw, blow his nose, and say "mama" - something he was not able to do before
the surgery.
Next he will get a prosthesis to cover the hole still left in the roof of his mouth. It will be done
by a dental surgeon - anchoring the prosthesis to his teeth - without any hospital time.
This is supposed to help him with certain consonants and keep food out of his sinuses.
In a few years, he will have the hard palate - the actual bone repaired.
